2008/3/6  Year Starts at the Sacramento Valley Scottish Games

As we wrap up another fun and successful year and begin the 2008 competition season, we wish to acknowledge the many fine pipers and drummers among us who received special recognition throughout the 2007 season.  The band was well represented in WUSPBA Championships:  Ken Sutherland is the Professional Piping Champion, Second place in Grade 1 Piping went to Kyle Rothschild, Amanda Gifford won first place in Grade 2 Piping, Kevin Sweetman took second place in Grade 3 Piping and Nick Theriault won first place in Grade 4 Piping.  Duncan McPherson is the Champion in Professional Drumming and Lewis Robertson won second place in Grade 3 Drumming.

In addition to WUSPBA awards, several of our members were invited to participate in invitational events elsewhere in the country.  Kyle Rothschild competed in the Balmoral Classic Junior Piping competitions where he took 5th place.  Both Ken Sutherland and Duncan McPherson were invited to compete in the prestigious Winter Storm competitions where Ken won 3rd place in the Gold Medal Piobaireachd event and Duncan won 5th place in Professional Drumming.
